So I suppose this instance I would prefer it in episodic format, but I would prefer it if the episodes were released a month apart from each other at most. If I had to take a gamble, judging by the trailer I think I'll like this season more than LiS2.
So I guess it's a matter of whether the story and characters will be compelling enough for me. By the end I ended up totally forgetting a new episode was supposed to come out and I only played it weeks or even months after, where previously I was counting hours till the next episode and engaging with the community. The second game, I was excited at first, but the story didn't engage me as much and with the long wait, I gradually lost interest in it. I was very invested in the story and I believe the format added a lot of value to my experience. The first game, I loved the episodic format and reading theories in between the releases.
I'm not particularly bothered by this one way or another, but it might make the experience of the game different for some depending on how they feel early on.įor me, it could go both ways, really. If we don't get episodic releases, then what we get in the game is it, which has its own merit, but they won't be able to change anything depending on what the response is in the early chapters of the game.
After seeing how much people liked her, the Devs changed parts of the game around to include her a bit more and satisfy people. I can't remember where I saw it but, reportedly, Kate wasn't as much a significant character in the game originally. My thing about no episodic release isn't that without it we won't get to spend months theorizing and speculating (I typically don't care for fan theory stuff and months long waits make me lose interest) but that, at least in developing the first game, Dontnod reportedly (yes I know Deck Nine is developing this one) used the time between episodes to change things in the game depending on people's reaction.
